About Me
I think naturopathic medicine found me rather than me finding it.
From a young age, I was fascinated by health and wellness. I made little meal plans and health goals for myself all the time and I devoured more self help books than most teens around me at the time.
I loved watching reality TV shows that were all about transforming and making over lives. I was enchanted by the idea that you can guide a person from feeling unwell to feeling filled with vitality by changing the way that they eat, changing their daily habits, inspiring a new outlook on life and holistically addressing their health issues.
As I got older, I became fascinated with traditional medicine systems from around the world such as traditional Indian, European and Chinese medicine. Again, I loved the holistic way that these systems of medicine incorporated diet, lifestyle, daily habits and herbal remedies to not only heal disease but to optimize health.
I carried all of these interests with me as I embarked on my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Toronto with the plan of pursuing conventional medicine. I didn’t think I would be able to make a career out of my interests in holistic, natural medicine.
During a fateful lecture delivered by a conventional medical doctor who was a proponent of holistic medicine, I learned about the existence of the field of naturopathic medicine. From then on, I knew my path. I knew that I would be able to use the critical thinking skills and healthy skepticism that I garnered during my rigorous studies at U of T and apply that to my naturopathic medicine practice.
My goal was to help patients sift through the confusion and false promises in the wellness industry and provide natural approaches to healing that had real benefit. I wanted to blend the wisdom of traditional medicine with the clarity of modern science.
Given my own personal experience with anxiety, emotional eating, PMS / PMDD, stress induced acne and gut issues I knew the areas I wanted to focus on. I decided to build my practice around stress and mental health and all the ways that can show up in the body. My passion is supporting patients with their physical symptoms while also helping them regulate their nervous system and manage their mental health.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the past several years and it’s been a joy being able to guide my patients through the transformations I was always so passionate about.
I was born, raised and currently work in Newmarket, Ontario where I raise my two little boys alongside my best friend and husband. I love reading fiction (especially fantasy and historical fiction), writing, hikes through forest trails, learning about history and culture, yoga, gardening (although I’m just a beginner) and cooking healthy (but easy) meals.
